When Robert the Bruce becomes King of Scotland, his daughter, Marjorie, becomes a princess. Unfortunately, her father's claim to the throne makes Bruce and his family - including Marjorie - targets of the ruthless Edward Longshanks, King of England. And then it happens: the new princess is captured and imprisoned in a wooden cage in the center of a town square, displayed like an animal in a zoo. She suffers from exposure to wind, rain, rude taunts, hurled garbage - the scorn of Longshanks himself! Marjorie is a proud young Scot and proud of her father. She will do whatever she must to defend her heritage and stand up to Longshanks' pitiless humiliations. After all, a princess is a princess, whether in a castle - or in a cage.
